Syracuse Lacrosse

The nickname of the Syracuse athletic teams is Syracuse Orange. Syracuse University is a member of NCAA Division I and the Big East Conference. The Syracuse Lacrosse men’s team plays in the Carrier Dome as do the men’s basketball & football and the women’s basketball teams. Since 1890 the official school color of Syracuse University has been orange, changed from rose pink and green. Earlier, the nicknames of the teams were “Orangemen” and “Orangewomen.” These names are still used, although the official nicknames were changed to the “Orange” in the 2004-2005 school year. One of the major motivations behind the change was to create gender neutrality.

Michael Powell, an American lacrosse player, has created a strong playing record for himself as a lacrosse player at Syracuse University.
