Mario Tennis

Mario Tennis

The first version of Mario Tennis was developed for the Nintendo game system called the Virtual Boy. This system was advertised as one of the first small game consoles to have three dimensional graphics. Virtual Boy was released in the United States late in the year during 1995. Early Mario Tennis featured just seven different characters. Originally, Nintendo intended to create a way for two people to play the game. However, the two-player technology was never released, due to the unpopularity of the Virtual Boy system and low sales.

A series of Mario Tennis games became available as Nintendo released different gaming systems. Virtual Boy, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color, Game Cube, and Game Boy Advance each have their own version of the game. The most advanced version, designed for the Game Cube system, is called Mario Power Tennis. It features 18 characters.

Mario Power Tennis Hints And Tips

There is a plethora of tricks to get ahead in the Mario Power Tennis version of the game. Four special hidden characters exist in the game, but they must be unlocked in order to access them. To unlock a special Paratrooper character in doubles mode, the player must win all three normal cup tournaments in a row. The same can be done to unlock the Shy Guy character in singles mode. Mario Tennis has several trick features that can make the game more interesting. When the opposing player has the ball, pressing A or B will cause the crowd to start shouting out taunts. The game will automatically assign a random character for the player if X is pushed in the court selection screen. The game also features silly outtakes and bloopers when the credits roll, if the player knows to play the first three championships in order. Winning all three championships in order will cause extra footage to appear in the credits upon conclusion of the game.

Mario Tennis For Game Boy

For gaming enthusiasts that just can’t get by without Mario Tennis, a portable version of the game exists for Nintendo Game Boy Color. The Game Boy Color is a tiny handheld console that features many different games for playing. With just two buttons, gamers can play Mario Tennis. The game was released in 2000 with great success and features 13 characters. A more advanced version of the game called Mario Tennis Power Tour exists for the Game Boy Advanced system.
