Lacrosse has a long history, originating from Native North Americans. The French who observed the Native North Americans play the game changed the game’s name to lacrosse. Lacrosse is more popular on the east coast of the United States, particularly in Maryland, Delaware, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New England states. In Maryland, lacrosse became the state’s official team sport. The popularity of lacrosse has begun to spread across to the west which was largely in part due to the media’s coverage of the sport. Lacrosse’s popularity has also continued to grow at the collegiate level. In Canada, lacrosse has been a major sport as well. There are 13 National Lacrosse Leagues at the professional level where 10 are in the United States and 3 are in Canada. Major League Lacrosse consists of 10 teams. There is also an Australian Lacrosse League with 3 teams. Lacrosse Apparel is pretty basic across leagues.
